Shopping for a Good Cause?
aGoodCause is a new philanthropically-minded company that has just gone global as of mid-September. The cause is familiar- supporting charities through a simple act that one already does on a daily basis- shopping. The platform which aGC utilizes to pursue this act, however, is refreshing and innovative.
aGoodCause has developed a simple computer widget known as the "AidMaker" application, which turns users' shopping revenue into charitable donations. A shopper who has downloaded the widget is able to pick a charity which they personally support, and as they shop portions of sales that they give to various companies are donated (by those companies) to their individual charity. As of today, aGoodCause has 829 participating corporations, willing to donate a portion of their sales to individual charities that customers select. The only catch is that one must use aGoodCause as the launching site for their shopping endeavors. This is little price to pay for "free" donations, and with 220 organizations to choose from, I'm sure most people won't have a hard time finding a worthwhile cause to support.
A further positive is that aGoodCause offers up its monetary platform details for all to see on its website. This economic transparency is often hard to find in corporate donor endeavors, and does a great deal to bolster aGC's reputation as a new, positive source in the philanthropic field.
