Carla E. Dearing
As president and CEO of GivingNet, Inc. (f/k/a Community Foundations of America, Inc.), Carla Dearing has a solid knowledge and familiarity with the needs, challenges and opportunities facing the community foundation field. Ms. Dearing comes from a strong background in financial services, and she brings an active volunteer-based involvement in nonprofit organizations. Her experience includes over 15 years with leading banking and financial services companies both internationally and in major U.S. markets, and she has held senior- level responsibility for a variety of investment companies and partnerships.
Ms. Dearing has a solid track record in the aggressive use of technology to automate business processes and her strong entrepreneurial drive has helped successfully launch GivingNet to the community foundation field. Prior to joining GivingNet, Ms. Dearing served as president of Investors Capital Services, Inc. (ICS), the successor firm of AMT Capital Services, an NASD-registered broker/dealer providing fund administration services for institutional investment management firms, and AMT Capital Advisers, an advisory firm offering consulting and financial advisory services to other financial institutions, domestic and international, which she co-founded in 1992. With $8 billion in assets under administration, ICS was acquired in 1998 by Investors Bank and Trust Company of Boston.
While vice president of Morgan Stanley & Co. Inc., Ms. Dearing's responsibilities included new product and market development for Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI), the source of leading global performance benchmarks used by financial institutions around the world, including 98 percent of the pension managers in the U.S. She served as a member of Morgan Stanley's Financial Planning and Analysis staff in New York. In 1989, she operated out of the company’s Geneva-based research and London-based sales offices.
Ms. Dearing graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Michigan with Bachelor of Arts degrees in economics and political science. Additionally, she holds an M.B.A. degree from the University of Chicago along with several securities industry accreditations. Ms. Dearing also serves on several boards including The Foundation Board of Jefferson Community and Technical College and IMC Corporation, as well as
serving as an Investment Committee Member of the C.E.&S. Foundation.
